@No-name There are so many interesting things about the game omg xDDD Karma points? Slapstick cartoon physics? I have many questions jdksfhksd also I usually play on SET mode as practice for my Achilles' heel, Double Battles (where I would not normally have any SHIFT mode options). SET Mode also makes the battles go by quicker and puts me on a fairer playing field with NPCs. Additionally, thank you for spotting the spelling thing - I'll go back and sort it at some point. Instead of sidequests, I'll be trying other things out this update instead...like trying to protect a random annoying teenager in the sewers sdkfsdh

I start my day wracking my brains on the far-right side of town.

"The Leader of Gearen City is Venam. She uses Poison type Pokémon. I think it would be wise to pick up a Psychic type Pokémon."

What am I thinking about? If I should get Shuppet and Pachirisu.I also have more catches that I can grab before fighting the first Gym. Shuppet may resist Poison, but Pachirisu has the better stats. I think I've made a decision, but I still want to think it over…

"Talk about discrimination! If I wanna get overwhelmed by strong Pokémon, I say let me!"

Speaking of strength lsdkhflskdj Rejuv has its Leaders ramp up the difficulty with coverage and power. If Venam packs counters for Psychic, such as Ghost and Dark? They'll will rip Shuppet's soul in two.

Next up is a scene that makes me stop in place. That guy, looking like Cameron from Eric's lovey-dovey quest. But the way he's facing forward gives me pause for thought. Is it him, or another Trainer ready to take me by surprise?

A glance at my team seals it. I'm running the long way 'round to heal. No, it's not cowardice, just forward thinking ;p

Back in the same spot, and this guy seems mad that I avoided him.

And just as I thought, he's a Trainer!

Me being me, I forget that Blink even has an OHKO-inducing Signal Beam and strike with Sonicboom first, meaning the little ball takes more damage than they need to.

This Breeder may look friendly, but I checked the wiki. A Level 15 Audino that could beat up my team. Come looking for levels up, and we'll be the piñatas.

So our hotel trip ended with us getting denied a Shinx, catching a Skitty of all things, losing at lottery, getting wrecked by a trolley and scorned by the receptionist. I'm tempted to go full Venam and deafen this lot with angsty music.

Further south of the city is a nice new encounter.

Honestly, this place looks beautiful. It's one of the many things I love about Gearen City from a storytelling perspective. Unlike its Reborn counterpart, this place isn't full of gangs and drugs. It's nice. Pleasant. But not utopian. The tales of workers keen with a wistful edge. Things could be worse, but they could be so much better.

That being said, I'm confused…I thought a Budew was wandering here, looking for a GourmetTreat. Is it gone? Did it get replaced? It's no matter, I have another encounter in mind.

This should be the spot where I can get two encounters xD

Yes! Also "The field is in full bloom" means that Grassy Terrain is on the field. Terrains are very powerful and custom-made in Rejuvenation, and imo massively contribute to the game's difficulty… Except in this case dskfhdsjkfh

The link is here: https://rejuvenation.fandom.com/wiki/Grassy_Terrain but to summarise, the terrain does a few things besides healing 'mons with 1/16th of HP and powering up Grass moves. For example:

- Wind-based moves and fire based moves gain a boost due to reacting with the grass below
- Sludge Wave and the Z-Move Acid Downpour change the field to a corroded field (wait...are Z-Moves a thing in this game too? D:)
- Some Grass moves like Coil and Growth get strengthened, while some moves like Surf and Earthquake get weakened

It takes a while, but we KO the Panpour. Its stats and coverage as a mixed sweeper look tempting for the late-game, but I worry for when we'll get a Water Stone. Knowing Rejuvenation, we'll only grab one five Badges later with many 'mons fighting for it. Would I evolve that monkey and miss out on, say, a Starmie?

I switch in Blink and Lime to take on my catch. Last run, I trained a Spearow to the level cap of 20. He fought Venam's Gym and other evolved 'mons as a mighty Fearow, with high enough Attack and Speed to win many fights. So, we need that power as soon as possible.

There we go!

Ares the Fearow was one of my earliest deaths. I don't want to name you after him, but I think Mercury is fitting for your speed and power.

…What little of it you have ;p sorry, I am just salty about the Calm Nature.

As for the rest of this - Sniper boosts crits, I'm glad his Speed is high but his Attack IV and Nature could be better. Smogon is weeping at the IVs on my catches so far ;p

But still, we need to train him heaps to hit the level cap. We've got a long way to go 'til the big 2-0.

Finally, a full team… But one I'll be changing very quickly.

We may already have an Electric type, but I've decided to pay a visit to the Velvet Building in the Gearen Apartments.

For a Fletchling, your Nature and stats beat Tesla's. Sure, you're frailer defensively. But you can hit hard and fast, with a near-perfect Attack IV.

Some training and healing-up later, and I'm consistently impressed. Blink and Oxygen's Sonicbooms wipe out everything. Victoria's on triple-duty – gaining EXP, switch-training Mercury and Raven and using Pickup!

Oooooh, these are our options for an encounter! I am using Charm on Ren's Growlithe to stop him slaughtering them both.

Poochyena gets Howl and evolves at an early level (15) which should be excellent for this Gym. Gulpin evolves later, but she has an excellent support movepool including learning Toxic by level-up. But we can hatch a special Poison type later on…

In the end, Ren makes the decision for me. I don't mind this, though. Ren went for the 'mon he could most easily get a KO on. So Gulpin may have greater survivability overall…

Yes!!! I would like to thank Victoria's Pickup for the Great Ball, which I used to make extra sure the Gulpin wouldn't break out and get killed by Ren.

Violet's coming with me xD and Lime is sent away. He can't do much against Poison types here.

Still no defensive IVs, huh…

But Yawn is a great move. Seriously, this line is underrated. She even learns Poison Gas right after this!
